Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the context or the context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Orphaned children" means orphaned children under prevailing laws.
(b) "Investigating Officer" shall mean an officer empowered under the prevailing law to investigate a criminal act.
(c) "Offence" means a criminal offense under existing law.
(d) "Children in conflict with the law" means children charged with delinquency and includes children convicted of delinquency by a juvenile court.
(e) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(f) "removal" means the removal of a child accused of an offense outside the formal judicial process by any procedure referred to in section 29.
(g) "Surveillance Cell" means the surveillance cell established under section 22.
(h) "Family" means the child's father, mother, elder brother, brother, sister, grandfather or grandmother and the term also refers to other close relatives living in the same household.
(i) "Council" means the National Council for Child Rights under section 59.
(j) "Child" means a person who has not completed the age of eighteen years.
(k) "Violence against children" means an act under sub-section (2) of section 66.
(l) "Juvenile Court" means the Juvenile Court established under sub-section (1) of Section 30 and the term also refers to the Juvenile Court as per sub-section (3) of the same section.
(d) "Child pornography" means taking or recording videos or pictures of children showing their genitals or involving them in imaginary sexual activities, displaying obscene images in newspapers, posters, print, films or other media;Work is meant and the term also refers to the production, sale, distribution, import, export, collection or dissemination of such materials.
(d) "Child Welfare Officer" means an officer appointed or designated under section 61.
(n) "Children's home" means a children's home established under section 52.
(h) "child sexual abuse" means an act under sub-section (3) of section 66.
(h) "Baal reform home" means a child reform home established under section 43.
(d) "Ministry" means the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens of the Government of Nepal.
(d) "Children in need of special protection" means children under section 48.
(N) "Guardian" shall refer to a person or an organization who is responsible or appointed in accordance with this Act or prevailing law to protect the rights and interests of children and the term also refers to the guardian in the absence of a guardian.
(c) "Social worker" means a person as defined in section 62.
(f) “local level” means rural municipality or municipality.
